Google's Grand Central takes a Sunday morning stroll

Tools

Google does a lot of things right, but as a wannabe telco, it leaves a lot to be desired. The Internet search giant's much-ballyhooed Grand Central, which the folks in Mountain View hotwired $50 million into, was down most of Sunday morning, meaning no service for all those folks who've chosen the service as their own, Tech Crunch reports.

Co-founder Craig Walker blogged customers with a lukewarm apology, saying he'd been up in the mountains with his family and had no cell coverage (can you hear me now?). While there have been scattered outages in the past, Sunday's was the first blanket blackout.
