GTS CE selects Overture to deliver Ethernet services in Central Europe
GTS CE, a pan-European service provider that supplies both business and wholesale services in Central and Eastern Europe, on Monday named Overture Networks as one of its key Ethernet over Copper (EoC) vendors.
The service provider said it launched EoC services in five countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Poland.
Set to serve about 40,000 retail business customers, GTS CE deployed Overture's EoC equipment in about 130 COs in Central and Eastern Europe. It also rolled up to 1GbE services throughout its expanding network footprint for its Tier 1 enterprise customers.
What drove GTS to chose Overture was that it can support various access mechanisms, including both copper and fiber, a key characteristic needed to serve multisite business customers and wholesale customers.
"Configuring our network for uniform service delivery in multiple markets, across an array of access technologies required finding a partner able to provide the best solution at the right cost," said Ignacio Irurita, CTO, GTS, in a release about their agreement with Overture. "The decision to go with Overture has been a very good one; the quality of the product in the field has been excellent--it's very reliable.
In addition, GTS CE provides wholesale Ethernet services via External Network-to-Network interfaces (E-NNIs) and interconnection agreements with service providers in both Frankfort and Vienna. One of the things that makes GTS an attractive partner to other service providers looking to expand their off-net Ethernet footprint is they have Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 and 14 certifications.
