Hibernia Networks enhances Ethernet reach with Atrato IP Networks acquisition
Hibernia Networks is beefing up its IP and Ethernet services portfolio by purchasing Atrato IP Networks, a provider of IP transit and carrier services.
Two of the product elements of the acquisition are Ethernet and Internet exchange (IX) services. Earlier this year, Atrato signed an agreement with Hibernia to provide it with 100 Gigabit Ethernet circuits to bolster its global IP backbone.
Hibernia can now extend its EtherReach product line across Atrato's widespread network that covers all the major POPs in over 15 countries and is connected to over 30 internet exchanges. It has interconnection agreements with a number of the largest exchanges, including AMS-IX and DE-CIX.
Over its network, Atrato delivers a suite of services including IP transit, remote Internet exchange, and managed services.
In addition to the network assets, Hibernia will gain a second technical leadership center in Europe, adding to its capabilities it has in Dublin, Ireland.
Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.
