Enventis, the business services arm of HickoryTech (Nasdaq: HTCO), has been awarded a new 10-year WAN services contract with the West Fargo School District.

The service provider has been providing services to the school district since 2000, and this is a renewal of that existing contract.

Under the terms of the $1 million contract which will go into effect on July 1, 2013, Enventis will provide services for 15 facilities, including the soon to be built Liberty Middle School that will be open in the 2013-14 school year.

Enventis, the business services arm of HickoryTech (Nasdaq: HTCO), has been awarded a new 10-year WAN services contract with the West Fargo School District.

The service provider had been providing services to the school district since 2000 and this is a renewal of that existing contract.

Under the terms of the new $1 million contract, which will go into effect on July 1, 2013, Enventis will provide services for 15 facilities, including the soon-to-be-built Liberty Middle School that will be open in the 2013-2014 school year.

While the contract is focused on these initial 15 facilities, the service provider will be tasked with providing connectivity to a host of new schools the district plans to add over the course of the 10-year contract.

Rob Kaspari, technology director of West Fargo School District, said one of the deciding factors that led the district back to Enventis was that they are "extremely responsive" and "always let us know about upcoming service windows and when I call, I always get someone on the phone."

Enventis is the product of HickoryTech's acquisition of CLEC IdeaOne, a move that gave it 650 fiber-fed buildings to serve business customers a host of Ethernet services.

While HickoryTech reported declines in its Q3 traditional telephone service unit, the fiber and data services unit remained strong. During the quarter, fiber and data services revenues rose 36 percent year-over-year to $15.7 million.
