Hurricane Electric, ISOC Hong Kong introduce IPv6 certification program for Asia region

Hurricane Electric and the Internet Society Hong Kong (ISOC HK) have joined hands to create the first non-English IPv6 global certification program, to be conducted in Chinese for Chinese-speaking markets.

All of the Chinese-language certification programs will feature the same content that Hurricane Electric delivers in its existing English-language programs. Initially available in Hong Kong, the Asia-based IPv6 certification program eventually will be introduced to other Chinese-speaking markets.

The joint certification program will build on the foundation the Hong Kong government created to drive IPv6 readiness. Already, the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation (HKIRC) offers IPv6 domain name services with a number of ISPs in Hong Kong to provide commercial IPv6 services.

Timing for the new certification program comes after the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), one of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) that distributes IP addresses, announced this week that it has reached the final /8 IPv4 address block, distributed to APNIC in April.
