India's Bharat Sanchar Nigam taps Convergys; Bell Canada picks Omniware

Cincinnati's Convergys Corp. has signed a multi-year support and maintenance contract with India's largest telecom, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. The deal covers the replacement of BSNL's legacy billing system with Convergys' Infinys system, providing billing services for the telecom company's 18 million wireline subscribers. It also will consolidate and eliminate redundant systems, utilize an open-source platform and limit the need for custom systems or applications. Terms of the agreement were not revealed.

Also ... Bell Canada goes with Omniware
Bell Canada has selected Omniware Solutions' Omnibill for end-to-end billing for Bell's national broadband Internet services. Omniware has now integrated its product with Bell Canada's OSS systems.
