Infonetics: Carrier capex to decline in 2010

Tools

If you're a vendor selling into the carrier community, your life is going to be just as challenging in 2010 as it was this year. A new Infonetics report reveals that carrier capex spending will continue to decline throughout the remainder of 2009 and into 2010, but spending will pick up again in 2011.

Infonetics reported that global capex spending will decrease six percent in 2009. The analyst firm attributes that decline to a 'significant capex shakeout in the Middle East and Africa, a weakening U.S. dollar, expected declines in the Brazilian real and Mexican peso, not to mention delays in U.S. broadband stimulus spending.' However, Infonetics said that they expected optical networking single-digit percent spending growth in 2009, while mobile network infrastructure would continue to dominate total global telecom and datacom spending.
