Integra gives customers direct connection to Amazon's cloud service

Integra has jumped aboard the bring-your-own-cloud concept by offering new and existing cloud customers direct connections to Amazon Web Services' (NASDAQ: AMZN) Direct Connect service.

Delivered through its Integra Business and Electric Lightwave business units, the service allows customers to take advantage of low-latency and secure access to AWS enterprise-level managed and hosted cloud services.

Customers can get up to 1 Gbps connections over Integra's metro fiber routes to businesses and AWS throughout a large portion of the western United States.

Integra is not going it completely alone to deliver the connection to AWS. It is working with APN Technology and Consulting Partners, which will help customers establish connections between AWS Direct Connect locations and their data center, office or co-location environment. The AWS Partner Network (APN) makes a broad set of services, partners and support options available to AWS customers.

While Integra is hardly alone in providing direct connections to AWS, these agreements are essential as more business customers transition to the cloud.

According to IDG Enterprise's 2014 Cloud Computing Study, 69 percent of enterprises have either applications or infrastructure running in the cloud today and 24 percent of enterprise IT budgets in 2015 will be allocated to cloud solutions.
