Integra puts $11M into network in Midwest, Western regions

Integra Telecom continues to be aggressive with building out its network to serve both SMBs and increasingly larger business customers and its latest $11 million investment in Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada and Washington is a continuation of that trend.

Coming on the heels of its recent fiber build out to 50 additional buildings in its territory, these new network upgrades also include the addition of nine new colocation facilities throughout these four states in addition to enhancing existing colocations in Colorado and Reno, Nev. The Reno expansion also includes the installation of a new softswitch.

This latest expansion drive is centered on extending its growing suite of business services, including Ethernet over Copper (EoC) to both SMBs and medium-sized businesses in its 11-state serving area.

"These upgrades are part of our broader strategy to invest in next-generation communications that support the SMB market, including networking and IT solutions such as fiber, Ethernet, VPN, hosted PBX and email, as well as online data storage and Web hosting," said Matt Smith, vice president of sales for Integra Telecom.

Although there are clear differences in what a small- and medium-sized business needs for communications services, Integra's drive to continually expand its service suite and network will give those customers another alternative besides the traditional telco, whose main business focus tends to be on serving large MNCs (multinational corporations).
