Integra Telecom brings fiber services to Oregon Health Network

Integra Telecom won a contract to provide fiber-based network services to the Oregon Health Network (OHN), a statewide integrated healthcare network serving Oregon, the company announced Thursday.

Members of the OHN, which includes 230 urban and rural hospitals, clinics, and community colleges throughout the state, will be able to get access to the CLEC's suite of voice, Ethernet-based data and high-speed Internet services.

OHN's network was made possible through a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rural Health Care Pilot Program (RHCPP). As the fifth largest recipient of the RHCPP funds, OHN has established partnerships with various service providers including Integra to build its statewide health care network serving 172 clinics, 39 hospitals and 14 community colleges throughout Oregon.

What led OHN to choose Integra was the amount of on-net fiber locations, fiber density and higher speed network solutions it had in its service portfolio.

Among the services that the network will support will be a mix of imaging, video conferencing, backup storage and recovery, and access to electronic healthcare records and mobile healthcare applications.

Winning this deal with OHN reflects the CLEC's ongoing movement into the larger regional business services market like the health care industry.

Over the past three years, the service provider has continually expanding the reach of its fiber network into more buildings to provide higher speed Ethernet and cloud services. As of mid-June, Integra has extended its fiber connections to 2,013 buildings, including 115 new customer builds.
