Integra Telecom passes CEO torch to CLEC veteran Tom Casey

Integra Telecom is writing a new chapter in its long competitive provider book as it names Tom Casey as its new CEO.

Serving as Integra's board chairman since 2009, with plans to retain a board director role, Casey most recently was the President and CEO of Current Group. A CLEC veteran who also had previous stints as CEO of the former One Communications and as chairman and CEO of Choice One Communications, Casey replaces Integra's co-founder Dudley Slater, who served as the CEO of the company since 1998.

Slater will remain on Integra's board of directors as vice chairman.

Boasting an ever-growing set of fiber and IP-based assets, Casey said that "Integra is ideally suited to capitalize on the many new opportunities in managed services, cloud-based applications and IP fiber network services for further growth."

Jim Huesgen, a ten-year Integra veteran, will continue in his role as president of Integra. Taking Casey's place as Integra's new board chairman will be Kevin O'Hara, Level 3 Communications' (Nasdaq: LVLT) former president and COO.
