Interoute debuts Hosted Lync UCaaS service

Interoute Communications has launched a hosted version of Microsoft Lync bundled with SIP trunking service to help users of the unified communications platform use the Interoute Video as a Service cloud to join and host video conferences with an array of different devices and regardless of connectivity mode.

Interoute CTO Matthew Finnie said the launch is in synch with the growing interest among business customers in having on-demand service capability to a variety of different user devices. Hosted and managed service options (also being referred to as unified communications as a service, or UCaaS) also are being seen as boosting the prospects for unified communications deployment in enterprises that might have previously found such implementations too intimidating and challenging.

In a similar vein to Interoute's offering, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) late last year rolled out a managed Lync service and SIP trunking bundle.

Interoute's Hosted Lync UCaaS solution is hosted on Interoute's Virtual Data Center platform as an off-the-shelf product with a fixed monthly price, and takes only days to implement, whereas a non-hosted option could take months to configure and more time and effort beyond that to manage and maintain.
