IPv6 customer commitment wavers

Tools

ISPs and other companies involved in the IPv6 transition have told the Internet Society in a new survey that corporate customers have not seen enough real business need for moving from IPv4 to IPv6, despite the fact that IPv4 addresses are running low. Still, customer interest is increasing, the survey found.

Still, some survey respondents, according to a Network World story, are not actively tracking IPv4 address depletion, and if they are deploying IPv6, they may only be doing so on portions of their networks. Some research has suggested that the well of IPv4 addresses will run dry in about three years.
