Juniper enhances online video play with Blackwave acquisition

Tools

Juniper (NYSE: JNPR) is a believer in online video and to prove it, the vendor is now buying the intellectual property assets of Blackwave, an Internet video storage and delivery infrastructure specialist.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition of Blackwave appears to be part of a broader online video investment plan for Juniper. When it completes the acquisition, Juniper plans to integrate Blackwave's technology with its Media Flow Controller to create a portfolio of offering that it says "bring value to service providers, content providers and content delivery networks (CDNs)."

Seeing attractive assets to expand its respective video product portfolio, Juniper has been on an M&A hunt of late, having not only bought Blackwave, but previously online video streaming software maker Ankeena.
