Level 3 to manage disaster recovery for CAIXA SEGUROS Group

Level 3 has expanded its contract with CAIXA SEGUROS Group to manage the company's disaster recovery solution between Cotia, São Paulo, and the Group's primary site in Brasília, illustrating its growing presence in the Latin America region.

CAIXA SEGUROS will use Level 3's data center as a new operational contingency site in the event of business-impacting disasters to ensure the security and resiliency of its customers' information.

Some of the new features Level 3 will provide to CAIXA SEGUROS Group as part of the expanded agreement are protected data storage and power reliability to provide uninterrupted service to its nine million customers worldwide. Under the terms of the agreement, Level 3 will manage the contingency site, while CAIXA SEGUROS' infrastructure team will focus on the internal demand related to insurance and other services provided by the company.

"In the event of a cut off in the Group's main system, the backup environment will automatically be activated, avoiding technology failure or any service disruption for our customers," said Dominique Dieuzaide, CIO for CAIXA SEGUROS, in a release.

Latin America has become one of Level 3's key regional growth targets.

Besides CAIXA SEGUROS, the service provider's Vyvx division recently won a high-profile deal to distribute the upcoming World Cup soccer event feed from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to TV Azteca's teleport in Mexico City.

During the first quarter, Level 3 reported that Latin America Enterprise revenues jumped 12 percent to $189 million.
