Levin re-joins FCC to steer broadband plan

Blair Levin, the former Federal Communications Commission official and Stifel Nicolaus analyst who most recently served on President Obama's transition team, is coming back to the FCC to head the agency's efforts on a national broadband strategy. Levin was chosen by acting FCC Chairman Michael Copps, but, as The Wall Street Journal reported, he is also an ally of Julius Genachowski, who is President Obama's nominee for FCC Chairman.

The WSJ also reports that Congressional approval of Genachowski as FCC chief could occur this month, along with the appointment of a Republican commissioner, likely to be former U.S. Commerce Dept. official Meredith Attwell Baker.
