Lightower completes Open Access purchase
Lightower Fiber Networks has put the lid on its latest acquisition of Open Access Inc., a deal that enhances their network presence in both greater New York City and Long Island.
Similar to its acquisitions of Lexent Metro Connect and Veroxity, the completion of the Open Access deal is all about Lightower scaling its network to provide its business customers a larger portfolio of high-bandwidth service over fiber.
By acquiring Open Access, Lightower not only gains additional backbone fiber, but also last mile fiber access to over 230 commercial buildings and data centers in the region.
Open Access and Lightower customers both win out in the deal. Open Access customers will get access to Lightower's services (Ethernet, dark fiber, SONET, wavelengths, Internet access, and collocation) and service locations. At the same time, Lightower's customers will be able to gain reach into Open Access's on-net commercial buildings as well as connectivity into additional interconnectivity facilities.
Rob Shanahan, CEO of Lightower, said that "Demand for our end-to-end fiber connectivity continues to grow, and we see great potential for expanding our customer base and market share throughout Long Island and the greater New York City region."
