Lightower establishes New York presence with new Manhattan office

Lightower Fiber Networks is capitalizing on its growing presence in New York by opening an office in midtown Manhattan.

Located at 505 8th Avenue, the new office will support the growing demand for fiber services Lightower is experiencing from customers throughout New York City and New Jersey regions.

In New York alone, Lightower has built up an on-net fiber network in presence in over 325 buildings, reaching into Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. From New York, the service provider's network extends into Hudson Valley and into New England.

Rob Shanahan, CEO of Lightower, said that over the past six months it "has added over 100 commercial buildings and hundreds of route miles of fiber backbone to our network throughout New York City and New Jersey."

Much of Lightower's New York and New Jersey fiber network presence came via various targeted acquisitions, including Long Island-based Open Access and New York City-based Lexent Metro Connect. These acquisitions were complemented by the building of a new network route that offers a shorter route across the Tappan Zee Bridge.

New York and New Jersey are just two regions of Lightower's ongoing fiber build out drive. The opening of the New York City office follows an earlier move by the service provider to capitalize on network growth in New England by opening an office in Boston's financial district in March.
