Lightower expands New York metro, Southern Connecticut networks

Lightower Fiber Networks continues to ride its network growth momentum with two new network expansion initiatives in both Connecticut and the northern New York metro region.

In the Connecticut network expansion, Lightower will add new fiber between New Haven and Stamford. Services will be expanded along the I-95 corridor between those two cities, including Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Milford.

For the second expansion in New York, Lightower will add a new fiber route between Westchester County, N.Y. and New York City. In addition, services will also be expanded between Yonkers and the Bronx, including Mt. Vernon, Bronxville and Hastings. 

Similar to other expansion efforts it has made over the past year in New England and New Jersey, the new routes will provide area customers with all of its services, including low latency routes around New York City and New Jersey that financial companies crave for their electronic trading needs.

These new network expansions complement other recent network expansions in Greenwich, Conn., and White Plains, N.Y., in addition to a new, unique network route across the Hudson River.

Rob Shanahan, President and CEO, Lightower said "these particular network expansions add more diversity and low latency options for customers in Westchester and Southern Connecticut who need networking to New York City, New Jersey, and Long Island."

The latest network expansions are part of an ongoing movement by Lightower to increase its fiber and network footprint in the Northeast via its own internal growth initiatives and various acquisitions of other fiber centric competitive providers.
