Montana PSC probing CenturyLink repair service

The Montana Public Service Commission (PSC) will continue to investigate CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) landline service quality issues and outages after an informal investigation revealed violations of PSC rules.

According to KPAX in Missoula, Mont., the commission found CenturyLink violated PSC rules by not repairing out-of-service equipment quickly enough so it's going to look further into these issues, especially those experienced by rural customers who have no access to other carriers.

The PSC is also considering a request by CenturyLink to waive its time-to-service complaint resolution rule. CenturyLink has proposed a repair service improvement time that it will submit later in the proceedings.

In its informal investigation, the PSC found that CenturyLink violated rules requiring timely repair of out-of-service trouble reports and has invited CenturyLink customers "who are experiencing chronic problems with their landline telephone service" to submit comments explaining their situation.
