Mueller to lead White House telecom advisors

Qwest Communications Chairman and CEO Ed Mueller reportedly will be chosen by President Bush to be chairman of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, a group of executive from more than 30 telecom companies that advises the White House on issues related to telecom network security and technology. Former Qwest CEO Joe Nacchio was chairman of the group earlier this decade until he left Qwest under the shadow of alleged insider trading. It is not clear that Qwest itself will gain anything from the appointment during its ongoing recovery, but the role should elevate Mueller's profile.
