New Frontier territory means making choices

Talk about a changing Frontier. The company, which made a $5.25 billion deal to acquire Verizon's rural landlines in 14 states Wednesday, also is acquiring a mishmash of FiOS and satellite TV and Internet services. Frontier currently has a partnership with Dish Network, but as a result of the Verizon deal, it's soon to also have 110,000 FiOS Internet customers, 69,000 FiOS TV customers, and 164,000 DirecTV customers.

Frontier says the services will remain in place for up to a year, run by current Verizon personnel. Spokesman Steve Crosby said Frontier will evaluate the services during that time and determine which ones fit best for the company and its customers.

The company could push Dish services to more customers by creating triple-play bundles that include a sweet Dish deal for customers who currently have either the FiOS or DirecTV services.
