New Mexico PRC issues last warning for SkyWi customers

Tools

It's the last call for SkyWi in New Mexico. The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) issued a press release this morning urging all customers of SkyWi and its subsidiary companies ZiaNet and OneConnect ISP in the state to contact SkyWi immediately to make arrangements for the continuation of their service after March 9.

Qwest, Windstream Communications, Penasco Valley Telephone Cooperative, ENMR Telephone Cooperative and Tularosa Basin Telephone Company have all provided notice to the New Mexico PRC that they will discontinue service - cut off the phone lines - to SkyWi on Monday, March 9.

The number of customers that will be affected in New Mexico on Monday is uncertain. The PRC issued its first warnings about SkyWi on Feb. 10, 2009, and has continued to hold a combination of workshops and hearings to inform the public on the situation and facilitate solutions for SkyWi customers to transition over to other providers.
