Nitel rides the wireless backhaul wave

Tools

Nitel has added yet another new alternative service provider to the ever-growing wireless backhaul wholesale service provider list: the virtual network operator (VNO). To make its network assets more readily accessible to would-be wireless backhaul wholesale capacity buyers, Nitel has partnered up with TowerSource, whose marketplace offering connects wireless tower owners with wireless operators in need of space or co-location.

By combining Nitel's access to over 100 carrier networks with TowerSource's marketplace, potential customers will be able to source backhaul network connectivity from wireless towers in 48 states to their landline networks. The partnership between the two companies recognizes the need not only for higher capacity backhaul bandwidth beyond T1s to meet the ever-growing appetite for data-intensive services, but also view various network connectivity options in one common spot.
