Nokia to buy cross-platform software firm

Nokia has announced a $153 million bid to acquire Trolltech, a developer of Linux-based software frameworks capable of being deployed across many different device platforms. Trolltech's software already is used by Skype, among others. Nokia has been gradually moving more into the software arena, and its ambitions for its Ovi portal run toward setting up an integrated information management dashboard for consumers regardless of the device they are using at a given time.
