Nokia Siemens Networks names Hossein Moiin as CTO

Nokia Siemens Networks has appointed BT alum Hossein Moiin to the newly-created CTO position. Currently serving as BT's 21CN Mobility Lead Architect, Moiin will take his new post at NSN on July 1, reporting to company CEO Rajeev Suri.

As part of the ongoing reorganization effort NSN announced in November, NSN created the new CTO position. As NSN's CTO, Moiin will be charged with developing and advocating the vendor's technology strategy and long-term network architecture views.

"The communication industry is evolving rapidly and its evolution is impacting many aspects of our daily lives," said Moiin in a release. "Today our industry has transformed the lives of billions of people by enabling them to communicate with the world at large for the very first time. Nokia Siemens Networks is playing a key role in this social and technical transformation and I hope to be able to guide the company in a direction that will benefit the largest number of people and organizations."

Hossein MoiinMoiin comes to NSN with a long resume of setting technology vision. In addition to his most current post at BT, Moiin served as T-Mobile's VP of technical strategy and chief architect and as chief technologist for Sun Microsystems' Network Service Provider Group.

Moiin will have his work cut out for himself as the vendor tries to turn its fortunes in a positive direction after suffering a number of disappointing financial quarters.
