Nortel says company will consider sale of business units

Tools

A Nortel executive said the company would seriously consider any offers for its business units at the CTIA show in Las Vegas. Bruce Gustafson, vice president of strategic marketing for the carrier networks unit for Nortel, did not say which specific portions of Nortel would be available for purchase, but did say "we will go through the process of having those discussions."

Gustafson's comments could fuel unrest among Nortel's many already-unnerved business partners, as a sell-off of business units could disrupt operations and agreements. In February, Nortel, which declared bankruptcy in January, delayed the sale of its Metro Ethernet division after offers for the unit fell short of expectations.
