OpenDaylight's Jacques sounds off on the future of SDN, NFV

Sean Buckley, FierceTelecomOpenDaylight, a group dedicated to developing open processes for business and technical issues related to the implementation of software defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV), is being embraced by a growing number of service providers in both the telco and cable community such as AT&T (NYSE: T) and Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA).

I will be talking to Neela Jacques, executive director of OpenDaylight, in FierceTelecom's first Twitter chat on Friday, July 24, at 3 p.m. ET.

You can follow the action via the #OpenSDN hashtag. To make the conversation interactive, I also invite you to join in and ask questions.

During the conversation, Jacques will discuss with FierceTelecom a number of the key initiatives Open Daylight is spearheading to drive more usage of NFV and SDN in the market.

Some of these initiatives include the debut of OpenDaylight Lithium, its third open SDN software release. OpenDaylight says that Lithium is designed to enable service providers and enterprises can transition to SDN with particular focus on broadening programmability of intelligent networks.

At the same time, OpenDaylight is also providing continued technical input and guidance to members of its community through the creation of the OpenDaylight Advisory Group (AG), which includes 12 of its founding members.

We look forward to seeing you on the #OpenSDN Twitter chat.--Sean
