Orange serves up new cloud-based UC service

Orange Business Services is furthering its place in the Unified Communications and cloud services arena with the debut of its Business Together a Service offering, a UC solution that offers UC products via the cloud.

By leveraging an "as a service" model, Orange claims that enterprises can quickly access communications and collaboration tools any time and from any location or device.

Leveraging Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) Hosted Collaboration Solution, the Business Together a Service offering is currently available in its hometown France market with plans to expand it across other European countries later this year and other regions in 2012.

The new service isn't all just for show, however. Already, Xerox General Services and Orange Labs have piloted the service in France.

Enterprises that sign up for the service will be able to access a wide range of services, including telephony, unified messaging, IM with presence, conferencing (audio, Web and video), support for mobile devices and a contact center option.

One of the key benefits Orange is touting with of the service is ease of use. Enterprises can go to a portal to conduct moves, adds and changes across their various geographies. What's more, enterprises can pay as they go and pay only for the applications their employees use.
