Overture taps Fraser Moffatt to head up Canadian sales

Overture is making an official move to expand its presence in the lucrative Canadian telecom market by appointing Fraser Moffatt as its new regional vice president of sales, Canada.

Moffatt, a 20-year telecom veteran based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is no stranger to this market, having overseen the Canadian sales efforts for Ciena (Nasdaq: CIEN) and ANDA Networks.

The company itself has been serving the Canadian market for over five years, serving a number of competitive and large service providers, including Fibernetics, which is leveraging Overture Networks' HN4000 and HN400 EoC products to deliver Ethernet over Copper to SMBs.

Expanding their presence in Canada and other international regions, including Asia Pacific and Europe, is one of the priorities that Overture CEO Jeff Reedy put on the table for 2012.

"We've always done well in the U.S. and have had good sales coverage," said Jeff Reedy in a previous interview with FierceTelecom. "We are now focused on market expansion outside the U.S. in Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. We have a few benchmark customers in each of those regions, so we feel we know the success formula and we want to build on that."
