Paetec to acquire Allworx

Less than a month after announcing its acquisition of fellow CLEC McLeodUSA, Paetec Holdings said its will acquire PBX company Allworx for $25 million in cash. Allworx, which is based in Rochester, NY, is nearby Fairport, NY-based Paetec. Allworx also operates a consulting unit, and targets the small and medium-sized business markets that so many telcos are eager to follow.

Allworx has pushed into the IP PBX market, but the acquisition by Paetec will allow it to tap greater resources to better compete against larger vendors.
