Qwest to offer AT&T Wi-Fi to broadband customers

Tools

Mimicking an increasingly popular practice among broadband service providers, Qwest Communications has struck a deal to offer AT&T's Wi-Fi service to its own broadband customers. The Wall Street Journal reports that Qwest pursued the offering after a survey informed the company of the "strong demand" for wireless Internet service.

Qwest needed a survey to figure that out? In any case Qwest now offers cellular service through Verizon Wireless and Wi-Fi access through AT&T, which is... interesting. After reports in recent days that Verizon may offer its own broadband/Wi-Fi package, the big telcos in the U.S. finally appear to be catching on to the value of Wi-Fi--right about the same time the rest of us are getting much more interested in mobile broadband.
