Qwest pursues $300 million FTTN plan

Consider this Part 2 of yesterday's third-quarter earnings report by Qwest. Our newsletter had to be filed before it became clear Qwest announced a new plan to invest $300 million in a fiber-to-the-node strategy that expands its current FTTN penetration to an additional 1.5 million homes. Qwest CEO Edward Mueller said he hopes to deliver at least 20 Mbps to every home.

However, it's still unclear where a TV service might fit into Qwest's plans. Though the company resells DirecTV and added about 62,000 DirecTV customers last quarter, the absence of any further TV strategy has been one of the issues company watchers had hoped that new CEO Mueller would address.
