Reward for info on AT&T SF cable cut boosted to $250K

AT&T has increased its reward money to $250,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for cutting fiber optic cable around the San Francisco area.  Cables were intentionally cut at four locations early Thursday morning, leading to widespread disruptions of communications services around San Francisco and Silicon Valley.  Tens of thousands of customers were affected

Services were completely restored in the early hours of Friday morning, but the cable cuts impacted landlines, some cellular services, Internet access, and 911 emergency services.

Police, with the FBI assisting, are continuing their investigation into who deliberately cut the fiber in two locations in San Jose and two more in San Carlos in Thursday in what is being called "an apparent coordinated act of sabotage," said the San Jose Mercury News.

AT&T initially offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, but boosted the amount on Friday afternoon.
