SDP market growing, battle brewing

Tools

The arena for service delivery platform software and integration services has changed greatly within the last 18 months, seeing consolidation absorb many of the technology specialists that pioneered the market. Larger software firms like Oracle, Amdocs and others grew from that consolidation, but, more recently, it has looked like major network hardware players like Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei Technologies and others have wanted to diversify more into SDP and other software sectors.

Infonetics Research said it expects an interesting competitive battle between those traditional gear vendors and the likes of Oracle, the current SDP market leader, in the years to come. Last week, Infonetics forecasted growth of the SDP market to $3.5 billion by 2011. The market is expected to grow 28 percent this year, after 53 percent growth last year.
