Sidera Networks establishes express low latency route with ancotel USA

Sidera Networks continues to enhance its low latency service suite to appeal to financial services firms by establishing a new network link with ancotel USA's colocation facility in Westbury, N.Y.

By linking into to ancotel's facility, Sidera said it will be able to provide its wholesale and enterprise customers direct network routes from Long Island to New Jersey and Aurora, but also bypass New York City via a crossing between Brooklyn and Staten Island.

The new service is enabled through ancotel's acquisition of Long Island Data and Recovery Center's (LIDARC) colocation and interconnection facility located in Westbury, N.Y., in 2010, which offers other service providers like Sidera connectivity to to Optical Communications Group's (OCG) "Manhattan BYPASS Network" via submarine cables that they run from Brooklyn to Staten Island and Staten Island to New Jersey.

The agreement with ancotel has implications that stretch beyond the New York to New Jersey route in that ancotel can also offer interconnectivity from OCG's cable connections to and between transAtlantic, Caribbean and Latin American submarine cable systems as well as other nationwide and global network operators.

As a result of the acquisition of Long Island Fiber Exchange in 2010, Sidera is able to quickly and seamlessly connect to ancotel's facility in Westbury, New York--bringing access to Sidera's exclusive Xtreme Network to more exchanges, brokers, hedge funds, as well as order management and market data providers in the financial services community. The connection to Westbury, N.Y. will be concluded by August of this year.

Sidera was able to etablish a connection into ancotel's network via its acquisition of the Long Island Fiber Exchange last year, a move that will enable various financial companies (exchanges, brokers, and hedge funds) to access Sidera's low latency Xtreme network.

Of course, Sidera is not alone in its desires to provide low latency services to area financial firms. Sidera will have to quickly establish what differentiates its low latency solution from both other competitive providers (Spread Networks and Lightower Fiber Networks) and incumbent carriers (Verizon (NYSE: VZ)), and OCG that deliver low latency services in New York and New Jersey area.
