Sorrento Networks sets sights on Caribbean DWDM opportunities

Sorrento Networks has found its gateway into the Caribbean DWDM market through a new reseller agreement with TeleNetworks Broadband Solutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, TeleNetworks will resell Sorrento's product set (including the GigaMux 3200/6400/6440) to Caribbean-based service providers, utilities, MSOs and enterprises that reside in Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.

Jim Nevelle, CEO of Sorrento Networks said that while "the sector is experiencing rapid growth in general, but the Caribbean broadband market is ready to explode."

The latest Internet World Stats report revealed that the Caribbean population is 46.1 million, with 9.6 million Internet users or 23.2 percent penetration. Major contributors to the region's Internet broadband growth are the cable operators, which continue to expand the availability of their double and triple play service offerings.
