SPOTLIGHT: Comcast CEO's pay dips to $20.8 million
FierceTelecom readers who have heartily criticized the big pay packages for telco executives like AT&T's Randall Stephenson and Verizon Communications' Ivan Seidenberg in our comments section may be interested to know that Comcast CEO Brian Roberts took a huge hit in compensation during 2007. During what was universally viewed as a very rough year for Comcast and cable TV firms in general, Roberts saw his pay slide all the way down to $20.8 million, from $26 million in 2006.
That means he still made a few hundred thousand dollars more than Seidenberg, who's company arguably had a much better year, and who made $20.3 million (Yet, the real question remains: If they had dinner together, would they split the check in half or sit there for an embarrassingly long time trying to figure out who exactly owes what?)
