Spotlight: Networx paid off in 2008

About a year ago, there was a fair bit of whining from telecom network operators that the federal government Networx communications upgrade program was not producing contracts at a fast enough pace. By March of 2008, carriers saw progress in the program, and now Washington Technology has posted a long list of contracts awarded as part of the Networx Universal and Enterprise programs through early Dec. 2008. The contract awards range from a few million dollars, to more than $700 million. Verizon had collected 56 total award decisions as of late last year, while AT&T had 47. Qwest Communications, Level 3 Communications and Sprint also benefited.
