SPOTLIGHT: Qwest closing Seattle call center

Qwest announced it is closing its Seattle call center April 15, a move which will affect 235 employees.

The move is being done to "create a regional alignment for all call customer centers" and to allow representatives to focus on helping customers in states within their region. Under the arrangement consumer credit and collection functions for Qwest's West region will be handled out of an existing call center in Boise, Idaho.

The 216 existing employees will have the opportunity to move to call centers in Phoenix, Boise, Salt Lake City, or Des Moines, Iowa.  Managers have a rougher time, as the 19 affected can apply for other jobs in the company.
