Sprint serves up unified communications for European businesses, enhances collaboration capabilities

Sprint (NYSE: S) is giving its international business customers another way to enable more effective interoffice communications by extending its cloud-based unified communications service, Complete Collaboration, to 12 European countries.

Enterprise customers that reside in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will be able to take advantage of the Sprint Complete Collaboration service.

Two of the benefits that Sprint is touting with the collaboration service are SIP trunking and mobility for each enterprise's user. Unlike traditional TDM-based circuits, SIP trunking offers more-efficient trunking options through aggregation and bursting to reduce costs. In addition, Complete Collaboration supports the native in-country languages, with the text on the IP phone display; unified voice mail prompts; and auto attendant greetings.

Designed to accommodate multisite companies, Complete Collaboration enables companies to connect their disparate European locations over the same set of SIP trunks while preserving local telephone numbers, calling plans and emergency services. By using the same set of SIP trunks, a business can reduce the overall number of trunks necessary for SIP trunking throughout the 12 European countries.

Mobility is a key part of the product.

A salesperson who spends a lot of time on the road will be able to immediately join meetings, check presence and availability, and use instant messaging outside of the office. Enterprises can also use the Complete Collaboration to enhance their bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs with a seamless collaboration experience for tablets and mobile phones using multiple operating systems.

Expanding its network and service presence in Europe has been a priority for Sprint. For example, besides expanding the collaboration product into these 12 countries, the service provider recently expanded its presence in Russia by establishing a Point of Presence (PoP) in IXcellerate's Moscow One Data Center.
