SureWest scales Everest in $173 million buy

Tools

SureWest Communications, the Roseville, Calif.-based independent telco that was a telco broadband and video pioneer, announced it is acquiring Kansas City, Mo.-based Everest Broadband for $173 million. The deal, which roughly doubles the number of fiber-to-the-home subscribers for SureWest, comes weeks after the telco said it was interested in mergers and acquisitions of other like-minded FTTH carriers that could improve its economies of scale. The Everest deal should help bring more revenue balance to the combined company.
