Survey reveals employee discord at France Telecom

After seeing 32 of its employees take their lives in two years, France Telecom issued a survey that has confirmed employee morale is at an all time low.

All of the 80,000 employees that responded to Technologia's questionnaire said that France Telecom's management has created a 'tense working environment.' Employees attributed the poor working conditions to 'management shortcomings' and the lack of a transition strategy when the company became private. Making matters worse, only 39 percent said they were happy to be working at the company.

To help quell tension in the company, management has enacted a number of measures, including not requiring employees to transfer roles if they are near retirement, bringing in occupational health doctors and pulling 1,300 outsourced positions back into the company.
