AT&T boosts its quarterly dividend
Fueled by strong gains in wireless and IP services during the third quarter, AT&T raised its quarterly dividend by one cent to 42 cents a share. AT&T said this is the 26th year that it has increased its quarterly dividend.
AT&T announced that it would pay an annual dividend of $1.68 a share instead of $1.64 previously.
While AT&T's traditional wireline residential and business service revenues were down, AT&T's wireless and emerging IP and video businesses helped cushion the blow. During the third quarter, AT&T added 240,000 new U-Verse TV customers and next-generation strategic business services (Ethernet and IP conferencing) grew 16.6 percent. What's more, IP services grew 6.8 percent and offset declines in legacy business products.
