Tata Communications adds BitGravity to its growing CDN puzzle

Tata Communications has put the final touches on its acquisition of BitGravity, a content delivery network (CDN) provider the Indian provider it announce it would acquire in January.

With the acquisition complete, BitGravity will be integrated into Tata as a new subsidiary that will continue to be led by current CEO and co-founder Perry Wu in conjunction with Tata Communications' global CDN team out of the .

While the deal is new, the relationship between the two companies extends back to 2008 when Tata began licensing BitGravity's CDN technology on its CDNs.

In addition to leveraging its CDN technology Tata invested $11.5 million in BitGravity. This investment enabled Tata to launch its global CDN, a move that has already gained traction with a number of media, content and gaming companies in Europe, Asia and India.

Neither Tata nor BitGravity would release any financial details of the deal.
