TDS extends 1-Gig Internet, IPTV services to 7 New Hampshire towns

TDS Telecom is giving seven of its Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets in New Hampshire the option to order its emerging 1 Gbps fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) service.

For this latest deployment, the service provider has set Antrim, Bennington, Chichester, Deering, Henniker, Hillsborough and Hopkinton as the latest areas that will be able to get a the 1 Gbps Internet service.

TDS is taking a phased rollout approach in this latest round of its FTTP build.

The new 1 Gbps service will be available for installation immediately in parts of Hopkinton. Residents in parts of Antrim will be able to get the service in the next few weeks while the rest of the community, along with Bennington residents, will gain access by the end of the year. During the first quarter of 2015, Hillsborough, Deering and Henniker residents will be able to get the service.

As it has done in other markets, including a recent deployment in four southern Wisconsin communities, TDS is offering the 1 Gbps Internet service as part of a $100 a month TDS TV bundle. Eligible customers will be able to get access to a Connected-Home DVR (which links all TVs together), more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view and on-the-go viewing options.

New Hampshire has been one TDS' key targets for the 1 Gbps service. Earlier this year, the telco began rolling out the fiber-based service in New London and Hollis.

Matt Apps, manager of Internet Product Management and Development at TDS, said that in order to entice interest in the FTTP service, the service provider is "rolling out Fiberville and offering additional incentives to those who sign up early in many of these New Hampshire communities."

Expanding its 1 Gbps FTTP service has become a key priority for the telco. In October, it announced that it would deliver the service to four southern Wisconsin communities.
