IPTV Watch List: Highlighting 2009's IPTV innovators

FierceTelecom's sister publication FierceIPTV took time out during this year's TelcoTV show to issue a report on innovative service providers deploying video services.

Seeing that Telco TV is not just a U.S. phenomenon, this special feature--FierceIPTV Watch List 2009--as written by FierceIPTV editor Dan O'Shea chronicles service providers rolling out IPTV and video in various worldwide regions. But what you might be surprised by is that Dan's report is not just about the obvious players deploying video.

Instead, Dan's report took a road less traveled approach. Of course, the report did include some large carriers (Verizon and BT) deploying video, but it also paid tribute to some innovative U.S.-based independent operators (Consolidated Communications which actually fared well in Q3 against strong cable competition), European (BT and Carphone Warehouse) as well as service providers in Latin America (Telefonica del Sur) and the Middle East (Etisalat).
