Telecom Metric: Metro Ethernet gear sales up 27%

Ethernet turned 35 years old this month, and what better way to celebrate the technology's ongoing conquest of carrier networks than to report that sales of Metro Ethernet equipment rose by 27 percent during 2007 to $13 billion, according to Infonetics Research. The firm noted that growth will continue in double-digit territory for at least the next four years. Also, Ethernet access device sales may triple through 2011.
