Telefoncia net income up 39%

Spain's Telefonica reported a 39% jump in third-quarter profit to just over $5.8 billion. Some of that income surge is due directly to the company's sale of TV content firm Endemol, but the Spanish telco also has made progress moving into new markets.

Meanwhile, Telefonica saw its rate of IPTV subscriber growth in Spain slow during the quarter, but the telco still passed the threshold of 469,000 total IPTV customers.
