Telenor sees Q4 profit increase 23%

Norway's Telenor reported fourth-quarter 2007 net income rose about 23% to $1.41 billion, despite a slide in revenue of about 3.33%. The company also showed full-year profit and revenue growth. Much of Telenor's strength came from the mobile side--it is the seventh largest mobile carrier in the world--and from international endeavors. On the latter front, Telenor last week tendered its 18.3% stake in Russia's Golden Telecom to Vimpelcom in support of Vimpelcom's $4.3 billion acquisition of Golden Telecom.
